The house
Christian Tortu made his name as a florist. In 1984 he took over a flower shop at the carrefour de l'Odéon, in the sixth arrondissement of Paris, and the work that followed — arrangements built out of foliage, branches and garden material rather than cut blooms alone — is what the brand still draws on.
The line today sits in two halves that belong together. Home scent covers candles, reed diffusers, room sprays, liquid soap and pot-pourri; alongside it are the vases and home objects, which come from the florist's side of the practice rather than the perfumer's. The fragrance names stay with the raw material — Forêts, Tomato Leaf — rather than reaching for a mood.
